Paintings and Christmas Baking - Second Annual Exhibit and Sale
The exhibit in November 2009 went so well that I will be having a second such event, exhibiting about 25 new paintings. I will take place on Sunday November 28, 2010 from 1:00 to 5:00. I will again be accompanied by my neighbour and her excellent home baking.
Summer, 2010
I painted in Lansdowne Market a few times over the year, resulting in a couple of finished pieces. I have started collecting photos of other farmers markets, developing ideas for small watercolour/ink pieces that can serve as sketches for larger paintings.
I went to Les Eboulements with friends Mark and Andrea for a week long watercolour workshop with Toronto painter, Barry Coombs. Charlevoix was magical - a mix of mountain views over the St. Lawrence and a vital farming community.
We took a family trip to Prince Edward Island in August and met my parents. My mom and I had the chance to paint together several times, which was great.
Our front yard is a perennial garden, that provides bursts of inspiration for me. Somtimes, I painted in the garden and others made a bouquet of perennials to paint from.
Winter, 2010
Over the winter, I developed small watercolour/inks of places in Ottawa. I tried to to develop an landscape memory, in which I could explore some cubist ideas for the architecture. I focussed on the National Gallery, St. Patricks Cathedral, and the Peackeepers Memorial as subjects, as well as some neighborhood sites.
